Palo Santo is a mystical tree that grows on the coast of South America and is related to Frankincense, Myrrh and Copal. In Spanish, the name literally means “Holy Wood”.
Ceremonial Benefits The charcoal of palo santo sticks can also be used for ritual smudging.

Palo Santo is burned in ceremonies by Shamans and Medicine people for its energetically cleansing and healing properties similar to Sage. It has been popularized and cherished by many because of its heavenly presence in Ayahuasca circles. It creates a pleasant, fresh smelling smoke with hints of mint and citrus that work well in keeping away mosquitoes and other flying insects. It provides an uplifting scent that raises your vibration in preparation for meditation and allows for a deeper connection to Source. It is also said that Palo Santo enhances creativity and brings good fortune to those who are open to its Magic.

How to smudge
I recommend you and your clothes be clean and fresh before you begin and the space you are about to smudge also be freshly cleaned. You can also smudge yourself.
Begin by lighting your wand (a candle or tea light is very useful for this) and blowing out the flame. Now your wand is smoking ( Please be careful not to throw burning herbs around ) walk through your space counter clock wise as you gently wave or blow on your wand creating gentle wafs of smoke make sure to do every corner. You can feel free to say any words you like or even a prayer what ever feels right to you is what works best. Don't for get to do closets and cupboards.

After you complete all rooms, open as many windows and exterior doors as is practical to let the smoke be out. Allow the fresh air and positive energy to flow back into your living space. The smoke traps unwanted negative energy, which is then dispersed through your open windows and doors.

If you have a recurring negative situation or feel negative energies returning to your home, you may want to repeat the smudging process often. You may smudge every week, every month, or every year. Only you know when it is time to repeat the ceremony.

Smudging is a such a wonderful way to cleans and bless a person or home
